The current process for a high earner finishing 401(k) contributions and starting Roth contributions on the same payroll requires us to remove the W-2 category from the 401(k) deduction. This removes the contribution-limit safeguard for all employees, creating a risk of over-contributions.
Additionally, the 401(k) contribution is not appearing on the 401(k) report, creating a risk of missed or untimely contributions.
We need this process reviewed and corrected at the system level so that:
A highly compensated employee can finish their 401(k) contribution and begin Roth contributions on the same payroll without requiring the W-2 category to be removed.
The contribution-limit safeguard remains in place for all other employees.
All 401(k) contributions continue to appear correctly on the 401(k) report and integrations.
Contributions are not placed at risk of being missed or transmitted late.
